qbm[26] - pay cup
The early version of pay packets !
The indentured child apprentices could earn 1 penny for an hour of overtime [on top of their 12hour days. That's when there were 240 pennies to the pound.
Not sure if Quarry Bank Mill also used tokens for a truck system - ie all or part of a worker's pay was in tokens that could [only] be redeemed at the company shop. This system was largely made illegal in 1831/
That cup reminds me of the pay token / pay tubes that a certain Welsh narrow-gauge railway used.
