Heavy transport glider, used for Operation Overlord and similar events.
The Halifax bomber could tow three Hadrian gliders, each glider had two pilots.
The load could be 13 troops & kit, a jeep and crew or a 75mm Howitzer, crew and ammunition.
Usually the gliders were considered expendable and the pilots would be part of the attacking forces.
Eventually, a method was devised to pick up a tow after deployment
