STR[25] - inside the signal box at Alston

Pleased to be invited into the signal cabin, and had a personalised tour.
Details : The box was rebuilt onto the present site during the 1990s [something to do with the River South Tyne, and operational reasons] - The brick-built base is by the STR, the upper [wooden] part is from Aindersby and the 21-lever Mckenzie & Holland frame is from Leeming Bar. [both places now on the Wensleydale Railway, and no, they can't have their kit back]
The "Ship's Wheel" and the three nearest levers operate various aspects of the level crossing, which hails from How Mill on the Tyne Valley Line. This manual system is very rare.
