HFF Thurcaston Leicestershire 9th October 2023
The start of the public footpath from Thurcaston to Rothley on a dry autumn day. When it rains the fields are waterlogged and the footpath disappears under mud and water. Wellies are essential footwear.

HWW Calpe Valencia Spain 7th November 2025
I know I have posted images of the Penyal d'Ifac before but the rock wall dominates the town & port of Calpe and looks great from all angles.
Rising to 332 metres high, the rock is a striking visual feature of the Mediterranean coastline. Historically it was known to the Phoenicians as the Northern Rock, to distinguish it from its southern counterpart, the Rock of Gibraltar.

Gainsborough Old Hall is an imposing mansion largely built during the later 15th century. Highlights include the magnificent medieval great hall, the domestic apartments and the finest medieval kitchen complex anywhere in England.

Seen moored at the old harbour the Andrea gives whale watching trips out from Reykjavik - not that we actually took one.

HWW Toledo Spain 12th November 2025
Toledo railway station is a real gem inside and out. Designed by architect Narciso Clavería y de Palacios in the Neo-Mudéjar style it was opened in 1919. The railway from Madrid was built in 1858 but the new station was more fitting for the royal city and former capital.
The interior reminds me of London St Pancras station especially the ornate wooden ticket office.

Mutrah Fort from across the harbour with the corniche running in front. The rugged mountains behind are part of the Upper Cretaceous Semail ophiolite complex of ultramafic mantle rocks.

HBM Mumbles Swansea South Wales 28th September 2024
Located at the eastern end of the Gower Peninsula the pier at Mumbles dates from 1898. Unfortunately the cafe here was closed due to fire damage.
