HFF Roundhay Leeds 29th June 2026

HFF Roundhay Leeds 29th June 2026
I was amazed you can get so close to this family of swans on the nest in Roundhay Park. The fence wouldn't keep them in or passers-by out.

As a child I was always told to keep well away from swans. They could break your arm with their wings my mother said & were especially dangerous when they were protecting their young. These beauties were almost in touching distance from the path and didn't even blink as people passed by!

HFF to everyone. Have a great weekend.

Nice capture Pete, I have images somewhere of swans with a pavement nest at Tarbert on Kintyre!

Swans are normally considered quite aggressive, but these ones must be an exception!

Proud parents of newly hatched cygnets. I think that swans are mostly friendly if one is quiet around them.
HFF Pete, and enjoy the weekend.

Hi Pete
A really nice picture, which I like very much!
Wonderful and interesting composition
You are so right about swans and their territory. I guess these have learned that their side of the fence is theirs, the other side is not.
Best Wishes, HFF, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!
