Dunwich Suffolk 9th August 2020
St James' church, Dunwich. The lost city of England.
In the Anglo-Saxon period, Dunwich was the capital of the Kingdom of the East Angles and in the 13th century it had 4000 inhabitants with an international port similar in size to 14th century London! It's difficult to believe that when today's village has only 183 people. Coastal erosion has destroyed over half the area of the old city which once extended 2km further out to sea.
HFF and have a great weekend.

Bingley West Yorkshire 23rd August 2020
Entering Bingley station on the Midland Railway's Aire Valley line Stanier 5XP Jubilee 4-6-0 45699 Galatea gives a good impression of a 1967 express, a time when the real 45562 Alberta used to pass this way. Shame about the wires...
This is the returning Carlisle-York Waverley railtour at 19.41 running 1 minute early and she was really cracking along.

Great Central Railway Loughborough Leicestershire 17th February 2020
British Railways Standard 9F 2-10-0 92214 sits behind the dollies in Loughborough yard. We had just taken over the loco from the morning crew and were waiting before hooking up to the stock for the 14.00 Gold Datex turn. The fire & water were in good shape so time for a quick snap!
HFF everyone & have a great weekend.

Sowerby Bridge Calderdale West Yorkshire 24th August 2020
If they were still interested, this is the very pleasant view that commuters would have as they made their weary way home from the Holmes Road entrance of the ex-Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Sowerby Bridge station.
The apartment block in the middle distance stands on the banks of the River Calder with Christ Church on the hillside beyond.
HFF and have a great weekend.

Goodrington Sands Paignton Devon 20th September 2020
The girls show an interest in GWR Manor 4-6-0 7827 Lydham Manor on the 10.30 Dartmouth to Paignton train. Or is their interest directed more at the young fireman??
The Dart Valley Railway plc was formerly known as the Torbay Steam Railway but today operates as the Dartmouth Steam Railway. It was the only heritage line running trains in the Southwest during our holiday.
