HFF Harbin Manchuria China 20th October 1983

Steam on the Chinese main lines was still commonplace way back in autumn 1983 & I spent 3 weeks on a Railway Transport & Photography tour savouring it.

These China Railways QJ 2-10-2 locomotives add their contributions to the general early morning fug hanging over Harbin engine shed as they are prepared for the road.

That is so interesting Pete. A real blast from a far more polluted past! You certainly travelled early in China. Very few foreigners went there in the early 80’s, specially to ‘out of the way’ spots. It must have been an eye opener! Fabulous photo. Have a top notch weekend! D
