Dresden Saxony Germany 15th April 2023

Dresden Saxony Germany 15th April 2023
Immaculate DR Kriegslok 2-10-0 52 8141-5 streams past the shed light engine during the Dresden Steam Festival.

Or is it a Märklin model???

Built in 1943 for Deutsche Reichsbahn 8141 was rebuilt by DR in 1965 & equipped with a combustion chamber boiler and mixing preheater (type IfS/DR).

Andrew Trundlewagon, Phil Sutters, William Sutherland, Steve D and 8 other people have particularly liked this photo

That’s lovely, Pete! I didn’t go to the Steam Locomotive Festival in Dresden in 2023. Let’s see if I can make it this year. – I photographed this locomotive at the Railway Festival in Chemnitz back in 2025. By the way, you’ve made a mistake with the number. ;-) It’s the 52 8141-5 – and of course it’s NOT a Märklin model! ;-)))

Thank you Frank. It was a great visit and festival. And of course you are correct it is 52 8141-5 - a slip of the finger/brain! BTW I must compliment you on your age which must be at least 101 years to have seen the loco in 1925... :-)))

*ROFL* That was, of course, 100 years later. After all, the locomotive wasn’t delivered until 1944. I saw locomotive 2025 in Chemnitz. – A distinctive feature of the locomotive, which belongs to the OSEF (Ostsächsische Eisenbahnfreunde e. V.) from Löbau, is the so-called ‘Quetschesse’, which you don’t often see on steam locomotives.

Right, so now we’ve both made a mistake! I always say: ‘If you spot a mistake, you’re welcome to keep it!’ You’re welcome to keep my mistake too. By the way, I'm 66. ;-)
