Zion Chapel
The Zion Methodist New Connexion Chapel in Batley replaced a smaller chapel on the site. The foundation stone was laid in 1868 and formal opening took place in 1870. It was designed by Walter Hanstock and Michael Sheard.
So many textile owners attended this church that it became known locally at "The Shoddy Temple".
