Viridor's 35MW waste to energy facility at Trident Park in Cardiff is also designed to supply an additional 20 MW of heat to a district heating system. The facility is intended to handle 350,000 tonnes of residual or post-recycling waste each year, with 172,000 tonnes coming from the five councils that make up the Prosiect Gwyrdd partnership: Caerphilly, Cardiff, Monmouthshire, Newport and Vale of Glamorgan.

Common source of heat supplied to a whole district of housing. Like having a single boiler for heating a whole block of flats but on a much larger scale.

So there are pipes carrying hot water or some other liquid buried along the roads and if you want it you get a pipe into your home? Is there a return pipe also?
