Steam and cement

I don't often stray into the realms of black and white photography, but the conditions on this day certainly lent themselves to the grainy results seen here. The morning service has just passed the site of Winkhill Station and is on the final climb up Caldon Low. The exhaust from the locomotive is matched by the plume from the chimney at the Lafarge cement works which may yet bring traffic to his line.
