Newly fledged
This photo was taken on the very first day that this young Northern Hawk Owlet came out of the nest and began to explore the big, wide world around it. I was so lucky that I happened to be there on that day. It was on the ground when I got there, but eventually clawed its way up on to the curved trunk of this very small tree. Such a beautiful bird.
