Seneca Snakeroot / Polygala senega
These wild, native plants tend to grow together in a small patch, just a few inches across. The tiny, white-greenish flowers grow together in a spike, as seen in my macro photo. An individual flower on the spike is small (about 1/8" long) and blooms in late spring and early summer. Seneca Snakeroot belongs to the Milkwort family (Polygalaceae), growing in dry open woods and often along the sides of trails. They are not very noticeable. We saw this patch of plants in North Weaselhead on June 14th.
