Colour mix
Digging deep into my archives, I came across this cheery image taken on 2nd June 2009. Though it's a lovely mild day here today, around 1C (34F), it is so overcast and gloomy, so a splash of colour helps a little. Does it feel good to finally be out of our most recent deep freeze! I made myself go out for a walk to keep myself off the computer for a few hours. My arms are feeling rather painful again from all the endless mouse-clicking. I was so glad I went with a handful of friends - almost didn't, as I overslept by an hour and a half, ha! Guess what I found. Yep, that tiny Northern Pygmy-owl again : ) So, sorry, there will probaby one or two new photos coming up in the next little while. It's an absolute miracle I spotted him, on a distant tree, surrounded by thin branches. After my friends left to go back to the parking lot, two of us stayed behind. The little owl continued to sit and sit and then, suddenly, it swooped down towards the creek and we were expecting it to land and catch a Meadow Vole on the frozen surface. Instead, it continued to the far side of the creek and vanished into the trees. After a good search, I suddenly spotted it very high up - again, I am amazed that I saw it, but was so glad I did, as it was a little nearer to where we were standing on the path. Ghastly, overcast sky and lack of light, but hopefully I can find a shot or two fit to post : ) A bit later: got a crummy bunch of photos of the owl. I guess it just doesn't work well, pointing my camera up towards the sky on such an overcast day, but I can probably rescue a few.
