Lockdown.

The people of Italy and Rome have been through many hardships through the centuries and will, I am sure, prevail. I have just been to a supermarket to buy a couple of bottles of wine (I have my priorities right). It was as busy as Christmas with people buying multiple packs of 16 toilet rolls, tinned food etc. These misguided people are creating the very shortages that they are afraid of!

Who knows which strategy is right, if any, only time will tell.

In the 'Lap of the Gods' and 'Politicians' as we say sometimes. Here too, as we drove to our supermarket for a loaf, people in front of us all had 'toilet rolls' -madness - as Doug says above.

La température selon un spécialiste que je viens d'entendre la à radio ne fait rien à la limitation de la propagation du virus. Les premiers cas de contagion arriveraient en Afrique... Comme tu le dis Annemarie, l'avenir ne nous appartient plus. Seul solution -en attendant un vaccin qui n'arrivera pas avant de nombreux moi- , le confinement. Moi, je suis quand même allé voter ce matin. La vie continue, tant bien que mal.

As an old and vulnerable lady who would like to get to be really old I am in favour of lockdowns and stopping travel and big events, - anything for safety, - but it will be what it will be. The selfishness of people saddens and disappoints me somewhat as they do say people pull together and help each other out in emergencies. The people coming out of supermarkets laden with whole trays of tinned foods, rice and toilet rolls shows that for many it is a case of 'Every man for himself', - and this is only the start!

Excellent shot and good question about approach. Sometimes I wonder even if we take all precautions as recommended, are we really safe. My brother Don had a COVID-19 positive case at his workplace and I've had two. Is it a matter of time for us? What about our immediate families? I'm sure you have the same questions. As for us here in NY, we can only wait since tests still badly lack here and the present criteria make it difficult to impossible for most people to even qualify.

It also doesn't help that some seem amazingly unconcerned and call this "a bad case of the flu" despite pleas from residents of your country and Spain who see first hand how bad this virus is. Do your best and protect yourself and family. Stay healthy.
