Cute Little Orange Jelly Fungus
One day while walking the dogs, I looked over our fence to the next property, and saw some wonderful orange fungus growing on a stump there! I didn't want to hop the fence for a picture, so I began to look on our property for this weird-looking stuff. I found a itty bitty growth in one spot but it just wasn't good enough. Then, the other day, while hunting around in the darker part of our lower forest, I hit pay dirt!! This little guy is only about 1/2" tall and was found with another one nearby! :D
Orange Jelly is a common fungus that can be found on dead conifer logs and stumps. When mature, they produce spores all over their surface much like the gills of mushrooms. If you would like to know more about this cool fungus, check this Wiki page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jelly_fungus
