What's Going On? July, 1917

All of them were smiling. WW1 was still going on. The two ladies on the right were tying something to their friend's belt. I can't put it all together.

Ronald - strange, isn't it? This album has many photos of playful, amused women enjoying themselves. I think they are (variously) sisters, cousins and friends.
According to the dates, there were at least two weddings and honeymoon pictures dated July 1917. Perhaps a clue lis there!

Hmm...maybe they're acting out "tying the knot"?

Der 1. Weltkrieg fand hauptsächlich an der Front statt. Die Bevölkerung in der Heimat hat davon nicht so viel mitbekommen. Entsprechend unbekümmert scheinen sich die Frauen zu verhalten.

Despite death, starvation, wounds, horrorsr, life generally goes on unless we are personally affected - as we see evident in Palestine and the rest of the world today.
