Out for a Ride in 1909
Uploaded for the Vintage Photos theme Park theme of: HORSES, CARRIAGES, OR WAGONS
A friend who grew up with horses remarked, "Did you ever notice how odd horses were in the olden days?"
Well, not being a horse person I had never noticed that, but since she mentioned it I find that it's often true. They look...strange.
This horse seems to have a strong mulish streak, although that's not possible is it?
I think the woman in the carriage is the sister of the person who took all the photos in this album - that I purchased at a huge town-wide sale in Warrensburg, New York.

I'm ready to travel this way, slow and bumpy - how about you?
On the other hand, quite a few of these album photos are dated - and there's one particularly poignant one of the family on a bucolic, summer outing, everyone happy as larks, dated to the very beginnings of WW1.
