Passing Time at the Home "PUB"

Passing Time at the Home "PUB"
Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: CLOCKS
My father with his sister Joan who was visiting from Wales c 1977 - and a partially seen clock is above the PUB sign.
It seemed that many of the "dens" of the 50s and 60s were turned into home Bars in the 70s! (Why go out and drink when it's so much cheaper at home - and you don't have to drive?)
That constant availability wasn't always such a good idea, though.
On another note - so much stuff on those shelves!
My mother and her friends were avid bargain shoppers, and when tag sales became popular they were in heaven - especially with a theme (like PUB stuff) driving them.
I have two things from those very crowded shelves. The pewter beer mug on the far left top shelf, which was an early gift from my mother to my father - and one he often used, and the (hard to see) bottle on the very far left, which came from Peru, is a light blue green, and which features a man's face in a Peruvian hat with the long neck coming up from the top of his head.

Nouchetdu38, Fred Fouarge, Alan Mays, homaris and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

Such a nice photo of your father and aunt. He was a handsome fellow indeed. Looks quite a bit like Cary Grant here. I love all the stuff in the background, especially the mug with the face.

I'm sure he would have loved that comparison, Rick! haha.
He kept his great head of hair 'til the end. : )
When I was in my mid twenties, I house- sat for a friend who was a family therapist; she heard a LOT of stories from me about my father. She was a lot older than me, in her late forties. At some point she saw a recent photograph of him and said, "You didn't tell me that your father was so good looking". I remember practically falling off my chair. "WHAT? My father?!! Are you kidding?"
She thought it was funny, but typical, that I couldn't see it and had never, ever considered it.
I do see it more now. : )
