Rain and Snow

Rain and Snow
Apparently I have nothing for this week's Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "BALLOONS" - so I'm posting one for the monthly theme of COLD RAIN AND SNOW.

Sorry, Deborah, I was hoping that "balloons" wouldn't be too esoteric of a theme. This is perfect for "cold rain and snow" (the topic came from the title of a Grateful Dead song).

Alan - It shouldn't be esoteric, right? It's so strange though, I have NO memory of any balloons at birthday parties in England, although clearly remember the kind of foods that were served! Even stranger, I have no memory of balloons at parties once we moved over here, either!
Too much of a working class neighborhood? No balloons at my age then at parties? No clue, but I vaguely remember seeing helium balloons once I'd moved to Vermont and being enchanted - my only exposure I believe had been The Red Balloon!
Weird, isn't it?
As far as "Cold Rain and Snow" one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE covers is the Molly Tuttle Band performing it at Bristol Radio Station, Tennessee. It's absolutely perfect.
I'm paranoid to post the link because of copyright with Ipernity - but hope you'll seek it out on youtube as it's SO good!

Alan - one more prompt - it's the Radio Bristol Sessions - where she's wearing a kerchief on the back of her head.
The best!

And their dresses look like cotton! They must be wearing seriously heavy wool long johns with other multi layers, is all I can imagine!

I could use some of those wooly long johns right now *smile*

Thanks, Deborah! Molly Tuttle's "Cold Rain and Snow" is great! Will be ordering some of her albums. I can't recall too many balloons at birthday parties myself, but I seem to remember blowing up balloons at school, maybe for holiday decorations or something like that.

Oh, I'm so glad you enjoyed it Alan! I had the great fortune of seeing her and her band in Middlebury's Festival on the Green several years ago. When I asked one of the planners if they were going to come back the following year she told me that, sadly, they could no longer afford them.
Their reputation and following had skyrocketed - probably helped by the fact that Molly had been voted best guitar flat picker in the country!

haha.
Ok, no more whining west coast girl! We're going on to 16 inches of snow, it's 12 degrees, snowing steadily with 15 mile an hour winds.
And in Minnesota (as my friend used to often tell me), they'd say "Luxury!!" to that forecast!
