Small Town

Small Town
This week in SSC:

Tilt Shift Photography - "A process that uses selective focus to produce an illusion of a scene to look like a miniature."

I've never tried this before. It was fun finding the right type of scene for this challenge. This was taken from the 4th floor of a parking garage right before a downpour. I used "Fotor" online editor for the "Tilt Shift" effect which was pretty handy. I think I'll enjoy playing around with this in the future.

This is the "small town" of Bremerton, Washington featuring the "Roxy Theater" sign which belongs to one of the town's two theaters that have been here since the 1940s. I can't even guess how many times I went to this theater as a kid. Lots of good memories here.

...and for Sight and Sound:

Hi Karen,

It certainly does look like you met the objective of making it look like a miniature village! Excellent view point, and certainly enhancing the colour worked, which in its own right makes a pretty picture!
Of course I remember Roxy Music.. Still have their first LP on vinyl... saw them live a couple of times, but unfortunately the T-shirt hasn't survived the years! (But maybe a photo somewhere of me wearing it!)

Best wishes
Peter

Hi again Karen,
Just as a postscript, being interested in what you have done here (and keen to understand), I did a bit of reading and found a series of articles, of which this is maybe most relevant..

Thank you for the interesting article, Peter. :) Shooting from directly above or at just a slightly higher angle really can make for some great possibilities.

And I am just learning about Roxy Music this weekend. Norbert gave me some good links up above and I do like what I've heard. :)

I love small towns, especially as they are american ones (not that I would have lots of experience with small or large ones, but usually over here we only get the huge ones offerd in movie or picture) ;-)
Very well processed, I like the effect.
Just got in mind: "Make America small (therfore beautiful) again. ;-)
