Die SS Maheno war einst ein bekanntes Passagierschiff und sollte 1935 nach 30 Jahren Dienst von Sydney nach Japan zur Abwrackung gebracht werden. Ein Zyklon verhinderte, dass die Maheno ihr Ziel erreichen konnte und schwemmte das Schiff an die Ostküste von Fraser Island – ihrem letzten Ruhesitz.

The SS Maheno was once a famous passenger ship that, after 30 years in service, was scheduled to be shipped from Sydney to Japan in 1935 to be scrapped. A cyclone prevented the Maheno from reaching her destination and washed her up on the east coast of Fraser Island, her final resting place.
