The 'Moss valley' South Sheffield.

The 'Moss valley' South Sheffield.
Pictured from a local meadow known as ,. 'The Captain'... here is a view over the 'Moss valley' south Sheffield.. foliage is starting to show the Autumn colours but there is still some way to go yet,..

The valley was once a place of numerous water powered mills - the mill dams, coal mines and a railway for transport,. all now long gone.. but some ruins of interest do remain.

, Jean-luc Drouin, Erhard Bernstein, Fred Fouarge and 9 other people have particularly liked this photo

Did I ever tell you that my mum was born in Dore not far from here. Was in Derbyshire then ... I think boundary changes put it in Yorkshire (or was it the other way round?). Anyway a very fine shot, Dave!

I think my mum would be happy if she says she is from Hallamshire!

Yes, it was so.
My great grandfather owned HHB Sugg (probably just as well as seeing that was his name!) the sports retailers and he made enough of the folding-stuff (or wonga, if you prefer), to be able to better himself and move first to Dore and then later to Bakewell. We're talking 1920s and 30s here but I fondly recall getting his take on all sorts of things, especially cricket, which runs in the family (he died at a great age when I was 20, so I do vividly recall his very interesting views).

A wonderful landscape captured in beautiful diffused light...........I love the early signs of autumnal colours coming through amongst the trees. Be good to go back in a week or so for another shot David.

Great work my friend.
