The railway system I grew up with had a similar specked 0-6-0 from a decade earlier which had a few examples survived till the last year of steam as shunters. It also had some converted to tank engines. Then later some more tank engines were built new to that same design. Both types also excelled on light branch lines and outer suburban until the late 60s.
