My dear Peter,

A very nice picture from the heritage station on the Great Central Railway!
The nice diesel locomotive fits the scene very well!
Wonderful composition!

Very nice shot of this old locomotive,
it has a diesel-electric drive as I could read here:

Built: 1959 BR Crewe
Power Unit: Sulzer 6LDA28

Equipment: British Thomson-Houston
Traction Type: Diesel-Electric

Hi Volker ,
Thank you for visiting!
I am pleased you found it interesting.
That Sulzer engine was used in many locomotive types, and proved very reliable.
Hydraulic transmission (mostly German) was popular for a while in the Western Region, but never found favour elsewhere. Electric was found to be more controllable.

A fine image of this old engine, making a great match with the traditional red phone box too.
