Hi Erich ,
Thank you so much for your very kind visit.
I am so happy that you like the scene.
The water is part of a complex set of canals to carry goods to and from the factory, and also to provide power to a water wheel in days gone by. Now only for the ducks!
Best Wishes, and a good week ahead

Hi Peter,

The general autumnal colour tones look beautiful. The rippling reflections are superb and I love a tall chimney! So many have been demolished now. We used to have one in Wincanton in the Cow & Gate Factory. It was a sad day when that was taken down :(

Best wishes, Rosa.

Hi Rosa ,
Thank you so much for your very kind visit.
Glad you like it.
I saw quite a few chimneys still standing in the area, as museum pieces. Relics of the old days when each mill would have a big steam engine driving all the machinery from overhead shafts and belts...and little children cleaning the cotton dust from in between the moving parts.... Just the sort of thing to make the man from elf n saftey throw a fit!
Best Wishes,
Peter

My dear Füsun
Thank you so much for visiting!
I am pleased you found it interesting.
As I said to Rosa, there are a few chimneys left in the area, including one outside Ramsbottom station. This place is a country park with some industrial relics, including these houses, canals, and the chimney!

This is just by the car park for Burrs country park on East Lancs railway. Alan was there a couple of weeks before.. Not much by way of trains, but the old buildings looked nice.
Best Wishes,
Peter
