I first thought it could have been some sort of a long exposure shot, but not ...

Is it a macro shot? Or even microscopic view?

The direction of shadows is the most puzzling part to me.

Well, the EXIF told you it wasn't a long exposure, or macro.
As Amelia said, it is a lampshade. The shadows come from illumination by a couple of other lights in the room!
