Generally a pleasant day but for half an hour a snow storm rolled in sharply and I saw it coming and prayed it would be over quickly (I was in t-shirt gear). Thankfully it was short-lived, but a warning to the likes of me that you must always be prepared in the mountains! Even for a snow storm in May!

Yes, I posted this before, but I long ago ran out of unseen Cornwall photos and have no idea when I will be able to post new ones :o( So old ones only for the time being, or none at all (and I think that would be a shame!).

Street art, Madrid and the Cuatro Torres

From the roof terrace of a flat I stayed at for a couple of years.

A weekly journey to a take a class I no longer make! This footbridge crosses a dual carriageway. On the horizon is a section of the Sierra de Guadarrama (from La Maliciosa on the left to La Cuerda Larga on the right).

A quiet corner in this well-preserved medieval town, an hour and a half's drive from Madrid and a magnet for weekend diners (I think there are more restaurants than year-round residents here!) One of my first excursions outside Madrid with my girlfriend and I have very fond memories of this visit! My first of many visits to this town and yet it seems like weeks ago, not 7 and a half years ago!

I liked the cloud formations that day. The sharp, strong and sudden downpour hit the town of Grampound, in mid Cornwall, as I recall.

Good fun to be had scrambling on this headland.

I know I've posted this on Pano and certainly here before too but I like it and so here it is again! Pico de La Miel, Holm oaks, Sierra de La Cabrera.

I might just have posted this twice or thrice before. But so what; I like it! Towanroath pumping engine house above the cliffs at Wheal Coates tin mine.

The original 1919 metro trains (called 'clasicos') restored and on display at Chamartín station on an unused section of track, but they don't seem to be available to view close up. The fences have always been in place and guards patrol whenever I pass by, which is often (and slightly worrying; do they see me coming and think; "Here comes that hooligan Englishman again with his dastardly camera!")? BTW when I first visited Madrid in 1981 to see my sister who had moved here that year, these 'clasicos' were still in circulation and I used them a lot. They were horribly hot and rickety by then. I think they were finally de-commisioned the following year.
