Cistus in the Sierra de La Cabrera

Cistus in the Sierra de La Cabrera
An extremely hot mid-June day and the day when I forgot my sun hat and my sun cream. Coupled with the fact that I had had a haircut the day before and the tops of my ears were like pork scratchings. A lesson once learnt, never forgotten!

Roger (Grisly), , Nouchetdu38, Rosalyn Hilborne and 36 other people have particularly liked this photo

Thank you Peter. I used to grow different rock rose varieties in my various gardens but they were always short-lived (3-4 years) and never seemed happy. Here they are in their element of course!

Oooh, fried egg flowers.................and it sounds like it may have been hot enough to fry an egg on those rocks Andy!

Forgot hat and suncream...............been there, done that..!!

A beautiful shot sir!

You always hear about it being "hot enuff to fry an egg on", meaning the rocks but I haven't ever had an egg to hand with which to experiment! And I wouldn't fancy picking grains of granite or whatever from between my teeth afterwards!!

Thank you, Roger!
I did much the same today but spent it walking round our two gardens (yes we have a back and front garden of similar size and based on two levels so the steps between them are good for my recovery programme!) ... But I digress - I didn't bother with sunscreen as I thought - temps down a bit, and it's now September. I was mistaken; the air was crystal clear and the sun shone ever so brightly and my ears frazzled again!
