Waiting rooms are often the last places we want to be in: a curious hiatus of uncertainty. A waiting room is one of the last places you’d think of taking a photograph. These light-filled, defocused moments say something, to me, about finding something unusual and beautiful, even here. I used to pick up Good Housekeeping or Country Life. I was always happy to see a copy of Vogue. Now we just take out our phones. Next time I’ll be taking the odd photograph of the floor, the corner of a table, the windowsill. You make these waiting moments into beautiful images, Diane.

Oh my, thank you, Steve! You're so right about the phones. As a result, most of the magazines are things like Guns & Ammo (that's real), Field & Stream, The Western Cattleman, and such. Those guys don't use their phones, I guess.

Beautiful soft, muted tones complimented perfectly by the soft focus. As Steve says, we often approach waiting rooms with a degree of trepidation, but this image elicits a sense of calm.

No, eye doctor. Dentist is next month and I have to have all my uppers pulled for dentures. Waahhh!

Good point, Andy! I'm really dreading the pain aspect of it, though it won't hurt my feelings to eat mashed potatoes slathered in butter and gravy for several days. Oh, and ice cream!
