I watched this driver back his truck from that blue building. The trailer was in front of me. He made it in one smooth move, banging his hitch straight into the trailer. I want to do that!

Photo is from my car - too hot to get out!

The coupling of tractor and trailer at that hitch "fifth wheel" should always stay coupled. Sometimes high winds blow an empty trailer over and that fifth wheel connection is so strong it pulls the tractor over with it. Strongly built and engineered, but subject to "driver error" ... once at my warehouse a driver did not check the connection, pulled away from the loading dock, and dropped the trailer nose-down on the pavement with 25+ tons of palletized magazines inside. No one was happy.

There is a pass in central California (don't remember the name) with notoriously high winds. Every couple of weeks there would be a twisted tractor-trailer causing a lengthy highway closure. I can't imagine how much money the operators of those huge recovery/tow trucks make on that pass. I haven't lived down there in a long time, but it seemed that it didn't matter how much the load weighed. Potato chips would definitely not be good.

The driver of the 25 tons of magazines was probably least happy of all! ;-o By the way, great to see you!

Hmm, sounds familiar. I even looked at a map, but didn't recognize anything! I'm losing my California chops. :-(

Yes. In fact, I thought of you when I said I wanted do that. I almost added, "Pam might, too!" My brothers and I learned from our dad all of the etiquette required when driving a car near a truck. He wasn't a truck driver, but worked with them for decades. Every time I see someone almost asking to get killed I just shake my head. Thanks, Pam!

Yes, if your truck is stranded somewhere, you can at least eat something. Danke, Dida!

Read all the above with interest (and pleased to see Wally back!).
Just to add a sour note: I hear that Lays are The Orange One's favourite crisps (sorry, potato chips)!

Yeah, where has he been, anyway?! Don't care what The Ogre eats, just hope he eats enough to sink...anyway, I prefer barbecue or dill pickle flavor. ;-b

thank you, Andy!
