I don't know what it was, but I'll bet it was noisy and dangerous.

I wonder if the wood at the front came from a boat?

I don't think so, the arch is extremely wide (or, would that be shallow?) for any boat that would be suitable around here. More likely, they're from one of the many demolished, old buildings around town. Some have been simply knocked down, others have had their materials carefully recycled. It occurs to me these might be from the demolished wing of the high school. Well, who knows.. Thank you for your star, Andy!

Is that a railway yard? If it is, I think the machine may be for laying the rails and sleepers.

An interesting shot, as always Diane. I like the colour combinations in the wood.

It's about a mile from the rail yard, but since the guy who owns this junk seems to be a hoarder of unrelated broken stuff, it could very well be from there. I think I asked at the Heavy Equipment forum (yep, I joined it, to the amusement of the men there) a couple of years ago with an old photo. I'll try to find that post.

I'd like to say that it's a Star-Off machine,
but that one was red and this one is green.

sempre ed ogni volta così stupita ed ammirata dalla tua capacità di cogliere aspetti della realtà, considerati penso insignificanti dalla maggior parte delle persone, ma non da me! e saperli tradurre in immagini di grande e potente arte!!
Forgive me for the Italian, But tonight.. I've got a flu!!

Oh, Bea, I'm sorry you are sick! I was sick all during Christmas and just last week felt almost normal. Thank you very much for your extremely kind comment, you are always an inspiration to me. Have a great weekend!
