Smokey day

Smokey day
Not clouds, not fog, not dusk...SMOKE. Today was the worst smoke in many weeks of fires all around western Canada and US. The states of Oregon and Idaho have the most - and biggest - for now.

People don't even go out unless they have to. Today, I had to, and couldn't wait to get home.

Ronald Losure, Au Cœur... diagonalhorizon, Berny, Smiley Derleth and 5 other people have particularly liked this photo

Rapi, thank you! This may last until November. Each year it is worse.

What a shame. I presume you get this every year about this time?

Diane Putnam club has replied to Andy Rodker club
Yes, and each year it is noticeably worse. Hotter, "fire season" lasts longer, more fires, thicker smoke...

But ... surely ... it can't be getting worse. :o(
Mr Orange has said so!!! :o) :o) :o)
So it MUST be going to be OK!!!
Tell me it is so, Joe?

I've heard of these fires from a Facebook contact who lives in Oregon - they sound awful..!! I feel so sorry for those of you who are affected by them.

I hope it gets better for you soon Diane..........take care :-)

Worst ever. Late last night there was heavenly, heavy rain for about 30 min., but today it's back to smoke-as-usual. I guess it's kind of fascinating to watch the approaching climate apocalypse.

We went to a friend's in Salem for the eclipse, and the smoke all across central Oregon was terrible. So much for panoramic vistas! And the fire outside Sisters put the quietus on eclipse watching there.

I read about that on the news and thought of all the people who had already made expensive reservations in Sisters. :-(

Bad up here too. Had to cut my bike ride short on Sunday as breathing was getting difficult.

According to the fire map I saw yesterday, there are loads of them in BC. globalnews.ca/news/3585284/b-c-wildfires-map-2017-current-location-of-wildfires-around-the-province Even my grandson and his friends aren't out riding. Very bad for everyone's lungs. I haven't seen an all-Canada fire map, but I'm going to look.

Yep, only good thing is it comes and goes depending on the wind direction. Some days ok other days not very nice to be outdoors. Hope they get the fires out soon, has been going on for several weeks.

We were in Alberta a couple of years ago and had to breathe and try to look through smoke from Washington. This year, I guess the smoke came from BC. I hope you all get some rain soon to put an end to this so you can breathe easier.

This smoke actually came from CA and OR fires. Wind usually comes from the WSW here. But, WA was getting BC smoke! Today is the clearest day in two weeks, don't know if some fires are out, or if the air current is just different. If you go into a grocery store, you can hear lots of people coughing.
