Nice valves and levers

Nice valves and levers
Call me nuts, but I just love this kind of thing. I was trying to figure out what to call the thing on the left, tried "lever," and came across this:

ZX4GHwPBQRGTBZ16gQPCBGgK

I swear, this exact illustration has been used since the 1950s in elementary school textbooks and handouts! I had to laugh. Now, what would you call the paddle shaped thing on the right? The ON switch for a nuclear detonation?

Buelipix, Martine, Berny, Gabi Lombardo and 5 other people have particularly liked this photo

Hi, Nuts!!
Useful 'paddle-shape' thing' on the right; when you need to keep the paws of your three-toed sloth still for its annual nail-clipping, you know where to come!

Where, exactly, do I stick the paws of the sloth? I need more details.

Sorry, I thought I'd referred to the thing on the right with three gaps or slots, which you refer to as the paddle -shaped thing, but I see I must have deleted it by mistake! I will add another phrase which should explain all!
Also on reflection, sorry about the 'Hi, Nuts!' But you did kinda invite it!!!
Have a good week,

Ha! Andy, I am WAY harder than that to insult. Yes, I did invite and you did accept! After I wrote what I wrote, it did occur to me you meant the paddle thing. The three-toed thing didn't register. Maybe somebody will come up with the name of it. Or, maybe I should go to a mountaintop and be curious about something more interesting!

Toggle.....though I couldn't tell you why.

You're right, that's the same 'lever' message they've used for eons.

Oh, I did think of the term toggle switch, but got distracted and didn't look it up. I feel so vindicated, Don!
