"Don't lick me!"

"Don't lick me!"
The dogs that used to be at my mother's assisted living home every day. The director, who owned them, left and so did the dogs. Mom still misses them, especially the enormous Tut. I've never seen a Lab as big as he was, about the size of a St. Bernard.

, Pam J, Gudrun and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

They were entertaining for the old folks and even the visitors! Very sweet dogs.

Lovely gentle dogs.

As I said on the other pic... he is very very overweight.. most "big Labs" are... he could lose 15 + pounds easily.

But.... people confuse food and love...

Happy cuddles though.. and so sad they left.

They were a lot of fun, VERY well-behaved and absolutely tuned in to the Alpha dog - their master!

Not good. When dogs become an integral part of the environment, just taking them away is like taking away a family member.

I agree. My mom missed them for a long time. The dogs were so focused on their master, however, that I doubt they pined too much for the old folks! The good thing is that visitors come with their own dogs and a goat farmer even came with two baby goats just a few days old. The residents swooned over them. One man comes occasionally with his miniature horse and parrot. The office manager is going to bring her new calf. Once a month a group comes with their crew of therapy dogs.

So, it's pretty busy around there with animals!

Sounds like quite a menagerie up there, I guess that's one advantage to being more rural. Glad to hear that getting substitutes was so easy!

Good point, I doubt there are many calves and goats visiting senior housing in San Francisco, for instance. : )
