Those family photos are so evocative! I remember having a haircut like this even in the late sixties- short fringe (bangs) and the hair cut off just under the ears- what looks cute here I wasn't too happy about;-)

Oh! Hair! Yes, I think that was the standard 1950s hairdo, even for adult women. I wanted longer hair, did for a brief time and wore in braids, because it was straight as a stick. But, my paternal grandmother kidnapped me once and took me to the beauty salon, where she ordered a cut and perm! She thought a "modern" girl should have short, frizzy hair! And so I did. Every time it started to look normal, she would "treat me" to another cut and perm. ; /

Dear me- a perm! I never had that, would have been too expensive;-)
When I was little, they always cut my hair short "you need to have your hair cut otherwise it won't grow thick and strong" And later when I insisted on letting it grow I ended up with a cut like here- without the perm;-)

Funny! Just a photo can trigger memories of the humiliations of childhood - haha!

If I can get my 'new ' laptop with W-10 to talk to each other ! Need to scan bunches of old photos - Dad had a dark room until we came along. I asked him once why he didn't keep the dark room. In his matter of fact way, " we could either afford the dark room or you kids."
