Back entrance of a chashitsu (tea house)

Back entrance of a chashitsu (tea house)
The small, dark window-like space on the right is the nijiriguchi (“crawling-in entrance") in back of a tea house. This entrance is used by guests to show humility and equality. Some Westerners cannot fit through the small door and they are not forced to try (whew!) .
