Puente Del Ejecito - Fuengirola, Spain

01 Feb 2016 297
Just on the south side of the Spanish Costa Del Soll holiday resort of Fuengirola stands the Castillo de Sohail and Del Ejecito bridge. A great place to be and explore.

Ronda and the Puente Nuevo

02 Feb 2016 2 5 377
This gorge (El Tajo), separates the city’s circa-15th-century new town from its old town, dating to Moorish rule. Puente Nuevo, a fabulous stone bridge spanning the gorge, offers sweeping views to the valley below and the distant mountains.

A view from Ronda

02 Feb 2016 230
Once in the beautiful Spanish town of Ronda, its difficult to think of taking pictures from the town walls to the adjoining landscape as the town itself is so photogenic but here is a tiny sample of the delights to see. This view very reminiscent of Tuscany in Italy.

View down from the 'New Bridge' of Ronda

A birds-eye view (or perhaps Google Earth) view from the top of the bridge down to the local countryside that surrounds this beautiful town.

An arche of Ronda

There are many archways and cobbled roads here in Ronda. Savour this view just near the old Roman bridge over the river into town.

Naturpark Desfiladero des los Gitanes

Enjoy with me this fine view, even in this hazy sunshine of this natural park. Taken just above the lakes of 'Embalse del Conda de Guadalhorce' about 45km NW of Malaga.

Mallaga and its Bullring

04 Feb 2016 243
Malaga has many things to see and offer the tourist. Here we see its bull ring taken from high. Bullfights are held regularly from April to September and 14,000 spectators can witness the spectacle. Not for me though, but this makes for a great shot.

Palacio Episcopal, Malaga

04 Feb 2016 1 319
This impressive façade is constructed with marbles of different colors (pink, white and gray) in a beautiful Baroque design, with pilasters and cornices. On the third floor of the façade is a vaulted niche that holds a sculpture of the Virgen de las Angustias, sculpted by Fernando Ortiz and Manuel Agustin Valero in alabaster. An arch of Malaga.

04 Feb 2016 1 231
I must admit that I am not sure whether this arch is up all year round or just during the Christmas season as the Christmas lights were still present. I have concentrated on the roof element leaving out the actual pedestrian roadway and myriad of tourist present here.

Up or down Madam?

05 Feb 2016 1 1 237
Are we looking up or down? A super charged lift, whisk these holiday makers to their rooms or reception area in this high-rise hotel here in Fuengirola. These lifts and the large open space area are in fact located inside (not outside) the Hotel Yaramar. To answer my own question - we are looking down!

Mija, pueblo blanco

06 Feb 2016 2 3 390
Mijas, a pretty white village just inland from Fuengirola and could not be so different. Here we see a view towards the centre of the village.

Surfing paradise Fuengirola

Seen in Fuengirola, Spain. This in reality is a rather small area that has been whipped up by strong winds and the nearby harbour walls.

Down town Fuengirola

05 Feb 2016 220
A high view towards the inner town from our high-rise hotel. Seen here is the local express train to Malaga and its environs.

Lighthouse near Benalmadena

Seen on our walk from Fuengirola to Benalmadena.

Curvaceous Marbella

17 Dec 2015 2 4 295
Seen from the main promenade of Marbella in Spain. I think this was an apartment block. Enjoy the slight amount of editing effect here.

Andalusian highlights

Taken from the window of a B737 on approach to Malaga, Spain. Only about 30km to touchdown, we must be approx 4000ft ASL here.

Goodby Puerto Banús.

We are actually walking to Puerto Banús near Marbella, Spain, but this guy is on his way out, taking the high road. Looks like loads of fun but would I fix myself into a seat with a lawnmower motor strapped to my back. Hmmm Well yes, actually!

The Barbary macaques of Gibraltar, monkeying about…

19 Dec 2015 1 2 242
Anyone getting near the top of the Rock of Gibraltar will have seen these lively interesting Macaque monkeys. Here are just two of the many but watch out - your camera or lens could go missing very quickly with these about. Taken near the top of the rock looking west.
