Summer on our farms

Summer on our farms
Just like the majority of agricultural farmland in Europe, June is a time to cut the meadows and hillsides for winter hay. This will feed cattle and other livestock throughout the winter. We see here the cut grass drying in the sun before bailing and taking to the storage barns. These fields are just off the coast near Ballintoy in Northern Ireland.

Beautiful rural image Herb, and I love the quirky triangle and vee in the grass pile. It does leave me wondering tho' ... what is the purpose of the lone, tall pole?

Very happy that you have enjoyed this Maggs. The pole, that I can see more clearly in my other pictures that I took, is an overhead-electricity-cable pole. just one of three that run from left to right across this field.

Enjoy the week. Herb

A very familiar sight Herb and lovely to see. Usually they are trying to get it in before the rain, but this year has been very different. I will wait to see your answer to Maggie :-)

Have a good day Herb. Cheers, Rosa.

With the amount of rain that is usual in County Antrim, they would have been keen to collect this quickly. It was though, like with you, a very dry summer after this photo. I have answered Maggs and hope that also solves your little problem too.

Enjoy the week. Herb

A beautiful view Herb...........with lovely lines from the drying grasses and lots of different green tones.........topped off with a nice blue sky. The trees fill the gap along the horizon very well.

An interesting combination of fences and walls too.

Yes, I thought it time to find what I consider a 'real' landscape photo Keith. A lot of greens as you say and the temptation to up the contrast overcome too. Glad you liked it.
