Step up to red

Step up to red
A historical back streets of Honfleur holds many mysteries as well as beauty. Here we see the interplay of light and shadows on both the steps and cobblestone which is always a favourite subject for me.

Best viewed full screen, black background :)

Ah, thank you so much Andy. I have a couple of these spread about on my other sites but not many on here. So much better in isolation black screen.

Cheers, Herb

I remember with pleasure your harbour steps shots, Herb and a few other goodies on Pano. I don't do other sites (no, that's not quite right. I dip my toe into 23 sometimes).
Best wishes,

A masterful shot Herb, brilliant play of light and dark, that shaft of light playing down the steps . That red door is handy too ~ love it

You are too kind Nick. Just very happy that you enjoyed this as much as me. I actually took around a dozen shots here with the aim of creating a HDR but the act of bringing out all the shadows defeated the look that I wanted which was this. Sometimes we sense as much as see the image we want, but to translate it into the final thing is not always as easy. Herb

Hi Herb, I moved and had some days without Internet, not to speak from the work I still have. I'm alone and have everything to do.

First-rate photography Herb...............this is a super study in light and shadow. I especially like the way the shaft of light leads the eye up the steps to the red door! Spot on Sir!

Hi Keith, as said elsewhere, I, like you, love lighting. This I think you will agree, has that in abundance as well as interest and pleasant colouration. Glad to have you on-board, Herb

Steve, you are a regular viewer of my output here and elsewhere and so you can recognise this as one of my favourite topics. Unfortunately, I don't see these street scenes as much as I would like. Hopefully I will post yet more shots of that French trip to impress you :)

Hi Herb,

Another superb picture, but I do wonder who would paint their door red in this environment!

Best wishes, and a good weekend.

Peter, in the old medieval streets of Honfleur anything was possible. These streets are occupied by a lot of artist and in that, colours of every possibility could be seen. With the streets being very narrow, not much natural light was present for long and so again, colour brightens things up. For me, I was happy seeing this red.

Cheers and have a great weekend. Herb
