This is first look at a coloured nebula this side of Town As these two are so close this is a two shot Panorama in this case sitting vertically. This shot went straight together in PTGui even though it was only stars as the join. This is a part of the Carina Nebula the Hand cluster is to the left and carina to Right. This is two nights per panel or 105 shots each as the nights get longer. QHY183C -10c 105 shot 10 min over two nights each. In between the Wishing well nebula/ Constellation And the statue Of Liberty This was shot over three night but in truth I can not get over the dust on the front glass of the ED80 and the Guide scope. I had to clean down each night in an effort to get a better photo. QHY183C -10c 150 shot 10 min over three nights each. Statue Of Liberty NGC3576

25 Mar 2022 13 9 213
I was after this with the closer view than my first so the nebula can be seen better. I was after three night but had to bring my gear in after only one we where to be clouded and storms. when I was disconnecting a small piece of the USB3 broke and fell on to the ground at my feet. you can see the very small part on top of the camera. As the camera is under warranty (sep 2021) I wrote to the shop I purchased the camera from and am waiting for there instructions. So it is only going to be just the one night of 52 photos till next year. I have included a starless version so you can better see the statue of Liberty clearly with out the stars. Carina Nebula NGC3372

06 Apr 2022 12 8 217
my aim was to get in a photo the whole of this large nebula. this was taken with the Nikon 300mm F4 D lens. this is the largest nebula in the milky way if you are out in the real dark you can see this with your eyes. middle of the bow you can see the red of Carina. the first was ED80 and Full frame next was ED80 zwoasi071mc. this is the only photo to include the whole nebula in detail. colour is all about learning how to get the colours right from what you have in front of you on your computer screen.. Wide field Of the Southern Cross

15 Apr 2022 11 12 316
This is some thing I have always wanted to take after I took it on Feb 2019 this is purely us under southern skies. this is never seen in the northern hemisphere only seen south of the equator and why you cant miss them as they are so bright in the night sky. So I used my 105mm Nikon lens to take a 3 shot panorama of the area over the last three night. The Points of Interest is what we see every night the Southern Cross and the Pointers not forgetting the head of the Emu between them both. The detail in the shot was an outstanding bonus but certainly no spectacular nebula in the shot its all about the stars and there is plenty of them. This was 80 shots a night for the three night getting each panel together. Each night it was a manual focus ZWOASI071MC -10 80 shots per the 3 nights 450 sec rotated 73 degrees. 1/2 way teaser.....Milky Way.

06 May 2022 16 19 390
This started out with the thought of capturing all the parts of the milky way you have seen on my pages. This is only half way 8 night and 8 panels and 8 more below to go. The end panorama will go from Fighting Dragons just to the right in the middle all the way down to just below the eagle nebula. This is put on hold as I am going to NZ finally to clear on my parents house. This will only be looked at once I get back in WA in three weeks and try and find clear night. This is taken with my Nikon 105mm Macro lens did a great job who said you have to have expensive equipment. Enjoy a view of the Milky way not even I have ever see in all my years of taking photos. This was my final night in Perth Before getting on the plane. The Antares area or Rho Ophiuchi two nights. I was doing the Milky way panorama so this could rise up. The camera was rotated to get the dark rivers in the full photo A far cry from the original photo I took in may 2019 PIP. ZWOASI071MC -10 57 shots per the 2 nights 600 sec rotated 105.5 degrees. Milky Way Core

12 Jul 2022 15 21 345
This is the end result of starting End Of April Finished to12/7/2022. what started out as a look at the area I have been taking photos for years. There is a host of PIPs from all the parts I have taken over the last few years. To get this completed this is the third iteration getting the over lap correct so it finished first was 12% , and second was 23% but in the end I could see the panels walking away from each other as I shot so settled for 45%. So the true start was early in April getting this part correct so it finished. Added to this I went from an easy Rotation Error of 5 degrees to a very small 1.5 degree. Even last night at 11:53pm at flip the camera had to be rotated 1.8 degrees after flip to finish out the night. I thought the best way to tell you Milky Way core is 53 shots per night X 22 panels = 1166 shot or x 10min exposure time.. = 11660 minutes of exposure to get the whole thing or divide by 60min gives you hours. = 194 hours or divide by 22 nights =8.81 hours a night shooting, not to get you confused...at all. The result of two sequences and 22 panels (11 panels long)each panel a night shooting, The Tiff is 22653 x 8024 1.01 GB, Jpeg is 176Mb the shot here is under 25mb. The end was I thought my first sequence finished where I wanted to but I was way out by 6 more panels to get below the Eagle Nebula. I thought Bonsai taught me patience but this has been a very long set of shots trying to get clear nights to get each panel between clouds and rain. The march across the milky way as I took it stated with far right to left as the Milky Way rose in the sky:- Fighting Dragons, Prawn , Cats Paw, Lobster, Dark horse ( bottom half only), Snake, Lagoon and Trifid, Horse Shoe, Swan and Eagle. Enjoy the milky way like I have never seen before This will be entered in this years Astro fest. ZWOASI071MC -10 53 shots each of the 22 nights 10min rotated to error of 1.5 degrees. My first try with the new chip that was put in the camera to replace the broken usb. I was sent a QHY183M mono chip not the QHY183C Colour chip caused all sorts of problems in the end this camera getting found is now know as QHY183M but takes coloured photos. I lost a whole lot of time with the camera Changes and setting up. This is in effect only 33 shots But happy the way it came out. This is a second go at this target but rains are killing any more nights worth of shots. In the very center of the nebula there looks to be a dog sitting on it hind legs begging these are called the "Pillars of Creation" sadly this is a close as I can go. With all the rain I have been teaching myself how to make better images. This is about 1 hours editing from the stacked file to the end result. most will know I am not an editor of photos I take the near on correctly so an edit is less than a min, deep space is a whole different ball game. Not sure I want to push it any further out than that. This Uses PixInsight (to stack and edit first up the file), Photo shop and I all way finish out in Light room. The PIP is my first edit Over a year ago so a lot has gone down since then. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prawn_Nebula ZWO ASI071MC Pro @ -10c Manual focus , Optolong LeNhance filter, Skywatcher Black DiamondED80 OTA Skywatcher EQM35Goto Guided PHD2, SGP DSS, Pixinsight, Ps.

Nuc

25 Jul 2022 72
windows 11 my samsung phone in its case is same size but much heavier. This shot clearly shows the fins like a heater to disperse the heat that is generated by the small unit. in all the time I had it running it never got hot it was more warm. 128gb of that 62 gb is all the programs that run the mount and scope.

A New Beginning- Test Night 2

12 Aug 2022 11 8 142
The Lap top has been retired just like me. I have started to use a Nuc which is a computer the size of my Samsung phone but not even a third of the weight. Nucs do not have a screen or a keyboard they are just a computer hard drive. It took me the better part of three days to set it all up( thankfully bucketing down with rain) first in the computer then as you can see getting it to find all the part that it has to operate. The only two night I had to check was FULL MOON which is not really good for photos but great for testing. The drive has only the running parts for the mount, Twitter, Xbox and a whole host of others apps where all deleted from the Nuc. See if you can find the Nuc Top left of key board. The whole Idea is to remove as many of the heavy hard cables that go up to the top as possible. this removed 5 of them heavy hard cable they shrunk from my 3m ones to less than a 1m and all go into the sides of the Nuc usb ports. It took me two night to get the parts working first night was Guide camera and calibration. for some unknown reason the program decided to pick the main scope and camera when that was not the one it was set up with for guiding...... A lot of scratch the head but worked it out. last night was try and take a photo on a far less than ideal night Full moon next to target BUT did all the parts of the program work. Thankfully they all did every one of them. I get into the Nuc by a net work cable that plugs into a switch next to the desk top inside so I operate it from inside the house. the only thing that did not work as I did not try was Rotation, for that I have to walk outside from computer room then back. That will get a test out later. This worked now its try and find clear nights we are back into rain. Not being a computer person and have to get all the many layers to work is a real uphill battle. First night the main camera only produced what looked like a jet back photo. We could not work out why on the hop out in the dark so I went to bed. It turned out lap top could get a photo but not the Nuc. I checked the Nuc had the very latest all in one driver package but not the laptop it was the driver for the camera one camera so it was copy driver and add to Nuc. yes it worked. Part of fitting The Nuc under was lift the scope so I had room to move and connect. it sits on a Velcro pad but is more or less held by all the usb wires each side.

Setting up.

12 Aug 2022 1 2 84
Connecting part for the computer to recognise one by one wires every where. in total 5 main components so 5 wires cut down from 3m going up to 1m staying up on the scope. I was very cold out in the outside area rain pelting down and strong winds blowing. Just to right of screen is my Nikon home made Rig far right is the Skywatcher ED80.

Lagoon Nebula M8- One Dead Cable

24 Aug 2022 17 15 180
While I was not the best I took advantage of doing some testing out only cause I could do it with out going outside in the cold it was all done from the warmth of the computer room. This was a trial with the MeLE Nuc to see if things where right I had three nights to "play" with the whole set up. The Nuc sits under the Skywatcker ED80 so 5 long 3 m cables gone going to the laptop they all stay up on the top of the scope. Night one did not work out at all could not get plate solve to work properly could hardly see the stars. After some two hours I gave up went to bed. Night two I bumped plate solve exposure by more than double the time finally plate solve worked. So I thought I would try some thing to check if the system worked. On taking the very first photo it would not down load and I lost the camera. The usb cable that was supplied with the camera died. My only option was to bundle up my normal 3m cable and connect up to the camera and the Nuc and try a fix the whole lot to the scope. The whole thing looked like it was normally what I was use to seeing. Night three I had to remove the dead cable and wrap the 3m one around the guide scope in the warm daylight ready for the night. I decided to do a real test set up the system to start on it own 6:45Pm. I sat in side the computer room and watched the sequence start flawless totally on its own. This is the result of those two nights some more 1m cables on there way to lessen the weight of cables. Plate solve has gone back to its normal 10 sec exposure time.
