The grass trees do very well in the fires and you are looking at new growth after the fire. HFF

The real tragedy is happening over east at the moment but that's life on a dry continent.

My thoughts are with everyone over there, particularly with those who have lost loved ones and homes. An excellent image Steve - I do like the defiant touches of green! HFF and havea good weekend.

While I read you comment I do feel happy this has not happened in this fire but know over east its is 100% true and so sad . the loss of fire fighters lives as volunteers brings it all home.

Like you I know the grass trees recover very early and show green well before any thing else in this landscape.

HFF and do enjoy your weekend.

Would be interesting to see the same grass tree in a few months time.
Hope this weather settles down soon.

Steve Paxton club has replied to Peter Chet club
Peter the grass trees shrug the fire off an more an annoyance. the green you see is all new growth. Its the rest of the trees how they recover so this is a watch this space as I know just where I took the shot.
Looking East I can only wish we never had to go through any of this but it a dry land.

A sad state of affairs Steve but as Peter says above, I think things will look different in a few months. A concern is for all the small rodents and insects here -I am sure they would not all manage to escape the heat of a roaring fire! At least this is not depicting someone's home!

HFF, have a great weekend. Herb

Steve Paxton club has replied to Herb Riddle club
Herb yes the trees may and do recover but you are right. Insects, birds and animals caught do pay the price. at my back is the home I put up here that show the total detestation two shots back.

Watch this space you most deffinaly will get an update. HFF from the far West.

What a desolate sight, I'm so sorry for the Australians and sympathize with their distress. What makes this photo so special are the green tufts of grass you see on the burned tree trunks. HFF Steve.

The very fist few trees to recover after a fire the grass trees and native cycads. the land is dry and prone to these fires. this year is very bad and almost extreme.

this will be a very different scene in a few months which you will get as well. HFF and many thanks for your thoughts.

I know what you mean, to see just what is going on over east is very bad.I believe a situation partly made by man as well not burning off enough. HFF hope you have a great weekend and a good 2020 as well.

It looks so strange to see patches of green in this mainly grey and black landscape. I hope things are beginning to look a bit better after the last 2 weeks. We have kept abreast of the news of the situation, but today the situation is off the top spot on the news for obvious reasons.

Steve Paxton club has replied to Amelia club
You will see this photo in a week or so if I can get it as some free time. the plants will have recovered some what. its not so high on the news here but it is still there as they are getting on top of it.
