This is a new shoot only a couple of weeks old. Only the bottom quarter of the shoot is shown in this photo.
27 April. I made a dish with one of these shoots with some pork and onions. It was very good.

In the spring, they can shoot up very quickly. This plant is well-established. I planted a little piece of the rhyzome in 2011.
