Something new I have learnt here, I did not know the UK has a version of this bird, the nearest is a Moor Hen but reference tells me the Purple Gallinue is larger.

Thanks, Maurice. According to my bird guide, we have moorhens here, too, but I don't think I've ever seen one. I think this is the first time I've seen a purple gallinule, too.

Usually the male birds are very much more colorful. But I could not find the Porphyrio martinica differences in Internet.
