I couldn't really work out what this creamy white reflection was until we got closer. I have never seen such long chains of wisteria.

TSC. June 25th challenge. 'Back to basics'

Not having a dedicated prime lens, using manual setting, I set the focal length of the camera to 35mm and used an ISO of 100. The resulting JPEG is straight from the camera, and not altered in any way. The base of the bar stool is reflecting the kitchen radiator and the kitchen door and frame.

The mid-summer gardens in Old Stavanger are a delight, but the arrival of huge cruise ships into port often spoils the view for the inhabitants. Tourism is supposed to be good for the local economy, but I know for a fact that many folks just stay on board.

Sherborne folly

24 May 2017 13 7 635
This folly was built in the mid-18th century as part of a scheme to beautify the ruins of the Old Castle. The archives report that a local builder was paid £22 for building this folly, by Lord Digby who owned the New Castle..

Moorhen nest at the boathouse

24 May 2017 15 15 846
SORRY - I'VE BEEN HAVING LOG-IN PROBLEMS AGAIN TODAY. The moorhen was sitting on the fence of the boathouse pier, and didn't seem perturbed by my presence. She was back on her nest as soon as we retreated about 10 metres. There weren't many visitors on that day. We informed the ground staff that the nest and eggs could be disturbed over the weekend. Apparently they were going to fence it off temporarily.later in the day.

Sherborne New Castle and Lawns

After passing through Sherborne on the way to Plymouth, Sir Walter Raleigh fell in love with the castle, and Queen Elizabeth relinquished the estate, leasing it to Raleigh in 1592. He began to remodel the castle including the great tower and south west gate tower. However, he turned his attention to developing the former hunting lodge to the south of the castle as his home. Rather than refurbish the old castle, Raleigh decided to construct a new lodging for temporary visits, in the compact form for secondary habitations of the nobility and gentry, often architecturally sophisticated, that was known as a lodge. The new house, Sherborne Lodge, was a four-storey, rectangular building completed in 1594, and is now known as Sherbprne New Castle. Sherborne Old Castle is now in ruins
