It has been busy and needs to dry out the feathers in this superb capture Amelia

Having zoomed in the main item the open wing looks sharp to me for a general photo extreme sharpness isn't important it's about the general feel of the image, if you were showing the structure of a feather that is different

A lovely scene, it seems cormorants often dry out in this manner.

Whenever I see cormorants, I can't help thinking about a nonsense rhyme I learned as a child:

"The Common Cormorant or shag
Lays eggs inside a paper bag.
The reason you will see no doubt
It is to keep the lightning out.
But what these unobservant birds
Have never noticed is that herds
Of wandering bears may come with buns
And steal the bags to hold the crumbs".

I remember reading this and memorizing at school, but had quite forgotten the poem until now. Thank you. :-))))
