This is a very good point, Amelia. Some of the climate changes are perhaps subtle and may even seem pleasant, like having dragonflies still around in mid November. But they reveal profound alterations to the seasonal cycles that have a much larger impact. You captured the dragonfly beautifully against the rough texture of the dead wood.

This looks like a Common Darter to me (although I'm no expert). According to my field guide they remain flying until quite late in the year........sometimes even into December, so that would fit.
