TSC: Keyholes.

In the original part of our home we found these clumsy Victorian door locks, covered in layers of paint. 35 years ago I spent many hours trying to get down to the basics. I wouldn't bother doing that now. ;-)

Like the picture and I can really relate to what you did. About thirty years ago I moved into my present house which had layers of paper and paint from when it was built in the thirties. I removed the lot. Chickened out on the doors and had them dipped. Found they were pitch pine. Stripped and refinished the original locks. And I was working ! How the mighty have fallen.

Well for being clumsy as you say, they certainly are interesting with charactor. Large on black really shows the details to the lockmaker's logo in the top left. Love these! :)
