After the good weather yesterday morning things got worse. The rain set in and continued overnight. When I looked out this morning the rain was still hammering down, one of the little clumps of dafodils was standing in water halfway up the stems and the large container had water lapping around the bottom even though I had it on a couple of battens. I moved the container to higher ground and forked all the patches that were flooded to give the water a chance of draining. The water table is high here anyway and the recent heavy rain hasn't helped. It took half and hour or so to drain. It is a continuous battle with the elements here to keep a garden going but the rewards when they come are worth it.
I had help in the work from Sooty who seems to like water,he paddled along side me as I sorted it out. Finished I sat on the step ouside and removed my boots but Sooty just pushed past me,he didn't even wipe his feet but just strolled across the kitchen floor leaving a muddy trail behind him.

We had a taste of America for dinner all be it an Anglicized version. We had a slow cooked pork joint with Texas hickory barbeque sauce and very tasty it was. The pork melted in the mouth and the sauce was smoky and slightly sweet. I will buy this again when it is on offer.
