Into The Light
- 18 commentsDrambuie passed away two weeks ago after being groomed. I'd been out of town for several days with work and the girls were staying at the vet/kennel where they always do when I have to be away. Tawny has really been missing her big sister, but we've been taking long walks in the evening which we couldn't do in the past since Drambuie wasn't up to walking very far. She would have been 13 in August.

Finding Vivian Maier
- 16 commentsdvd.netflix.com/Movie/Finding-Vivian-Maier/70291615 "When longtime nanny Vivian Maier died in 2009, she left behind thousands of photo negatives that she'd produced over the years. But the now-famous shutterbug's unique body of work lay in storage until an amateur historian uncovered the trove." I finally got around to watching the documentary of Vivian Maier's life tonight. It's well worth the time to see, but sadly leaves you with more questions about this great street photographer than…

Crazy Busy ... and Gone
- 12 commentsThe photo is of the basement pit for a new home being dug a lot away from my house. You can see my pickups in the distance. Everywhere around here you see ads for "Call Before You Dig" and this contractor did just that. They painted lines for every utility in the area ... including my gas line to my house ... and even though it's on the wrong side of the fence for the digging .... I had a yellow line painted on my grass for it. The best I can tell the painting of the lines gave the digger a targ…

First Place - Portraits
- 12 commentswww.indianapoliscameraclub.org/November-2015-Club-Competition/ I'm sorry I haven't been around Ipernity very much lately. but I've been covered up at work and at home trying to get everything in shape for winter. Tuesday night was the last photography club competition and I entered three photos. I recieved good comments on all of them, but I did pull in a first place with this one.

Newest Family Member
- 10 commentsFresh out of the desert southwest ... my newest old truck arrived today. I won a government auction a couple of weeks ago and I've been anxiously waiting for its arrival! It needs a little work before it becomes my daily driver, but then that's often the nature of these auctions. I think the girls will like riding in the cab with me again once I get all the desert dust out of it! :-)

Dead in the Woods
- 10 commentsMonday … I headed out to Ohio to service some water-table loggers and I took the camera along just in case I ran across something new. We finally got to the site after a very long drive and I noticed a honey locust tree with a large amount of burled growth on the branches. I pulled out the camera and went to set the exposure … and I found the camera battery was completely dead! I normally carry a spare … though, I rarely need one, but the spare was in the charger at home since I’d just put this…

The End of a Great Story

Sold!
- 8 commentsParty time here finally! The house sold yesterday and I can finally get back to doing my normal stuff! This photo is from my aunt's collection and shows her and a group of her friends having a great time at the house! I'm guessing it's prior to 2007. It's a young Drambuie in the foreground. Jan is wearing the Route 66 t-shirt. A girl friend and Jan drove Route 66 to California back in 1963 in Jan's new Pontiac Tempest convertible. It was one of her many great adventures and she talked about danc…

Ansel Adams's Exhibit
- 8 commentsThe Ansel Adams's Exhibit has been running for several months now at the Eiteljorg Museum www.eiteljorg.org/ and while I've been intending to go for nearly as long as it has been open ... this was the last weekend and it forced me to get moving on it even though my summer cold had me wanting to stay home and in bed. This is Ansel Adams's photo of Georgia Totto O'Keeffe. He knew her well! There were many images available to buy at the Ansel Adams store, but this one really spoke to me. Unfortun…

Another One Gone
- 8 commentsIt was another busy Saturday here! I had errands to run and I've been out shopping for a new stove. The refrigerator is on its way out and I bought a new one the other day to be delivered on Monday and I thought I'd go ahead and get a new stove while I was at it. My shopping trip got cut short when I got a call from a young lady who had contacted me earlier in the week about the light table I had for sale. They were in town today and were wanting to see it. We set a time and and met at my house.…

Tuesday ...
- 8 commentsI went to my first camera club meeting tonight. Something I've been thinking about for a while, but I wasn't all that sure I had the time for it. Seemed like a friendly group of people. We spent the evening learning how to set a custom white balance in the camera. Something I never do, but I can see the application for it.

Blocked
- 8 commentsIt appears my Ipernity browsing at break time is over! Ipernity joined a long list of blocked web sites at work. I'm hoping it is temporary, but probably not. It's too bad ... it was one of the few places I could comment using both hands to type! One, or both of the girls demand a hand scratching their ears most of the time when I'm home.

Walking Dead
- 8 commentsI finally got a full night’s sleep last night. The first in about three days. My oldest four legged furry buddy has made it a point to wake me up about every two hours. The cool weather of the last few days has had her wanting to be outside instead of hanging out over the A/C vents like she normally does. I'd leave them both outside ... except the younger one likes to talk to the neighbor’s cats ... very loudly!

Life of Code Inspections
- 6 commentsI'm sorry I haven't gotten around to visiting everyone's photos, but I hope so soon. I took off last weekend and spent it touring southern Indiana with the Friends of the Pleistocene and I'm way behind on my work and well as my hobbies! We are also in the final weeks of closing and I've got a million things to do to get the house ready to sell. From the inspection report I received ... you'd think it was the mound builder's house above!

Lost Boys
- 6 commentsThis photo was taken at the beginning of the infamous "Underwear Mapping Day". This day was designed to be a stress release for the many days spent mapping with strangers and their idiosyncrasies. The requirement ... underwear had to be worn on the outside of the clothing. I'm posing with the group of guys known as the "Lost Boys Scorched Earth Mapping Team" The team earned their name the week before mapping the front range outside of Las Vegas, New Mexico. We were required to map in pairs in th…

Busy Sunday
- 6 commentsSunday is normally my photography day, but I had to put that on hold to attend my little brother's wedding. He's actually been taller than me since about 10th grade. They had a professional photographer there taking pictures, but Mom was pretty insistent I take some for her. Lighting was not very good for no flash photos, but I did get a few of them to come out. It's unlikely I'm going to have anything for the Sunday challenge this week. I had a couple of ideas, but no time to try them out.

Bill Wood's Business
- 4 commentsAngelica mentioned this book a couple of weeks ago and I sent off for a copy. It arrived in today's mail and I did a quick scan of it after supper. Lots of everyday photos and the kind of photo that if you took them today ... you would say, "so what?" ... but forty, or fifty, or so, years later they record a time long past and often things that are just a distant memory for some of us and for other's ... a revelation to how things were! The 1959 Pontiac was sure to catch my eye, but even more so…
